Written by General Lafayettes personal secretary. 2 volumes complete! 1st American Printing. Brown cloth spine with paper title/volume label, Blue paper covered boards.Moderate general wear. Spine cloth torn or shredding, paper labels half worn off. Front boards held on by original binding strings. Foxing (age spots) present on many pages. 227 + 265 pages. Nearly half a century had elapsed since Lafayette was a general in the American Revolutionary War, serving under George Washington. In 1824 he was invited by Congress and President James Monroe to the United States as the 'nation's guest'. During the trip, he visited all twenty-four states. For his heroic contributions to the American Revolution, many cities and monuments throughout the United States bear his name. These volumes detail his journeys around the America he loved.
