Richard Rolle de Hampole (1290?-1349) was an English hermit, mystic, and religious writer. During the fifteenth century he was one of the most widely read of English writers. His writings were extremely popular throughout the fourteenth and fifteenth centuries, and very many manuscripts copies of his works are still extant in English libraries. The Early English treatises which follow are now for the first time printed (1866).
